Description: This very pretty Children's Mug has the words Forget Me Not in purple ink surrounded by a flower decoration. On one side is a very detailed image of a castle set against a pastoral scene, and on the other is another detailed image of a church and other buildings. It has a triple-stepped base. Often printed and with added color Children's plates and mugs were made in large numbers during the 19th century but inevitably few have survived. They are often decorated with animals, birds, occupations, games, morals and proverbs which were intended to educate as well as amuse. In the early years these mugs were well made but later became cruder as they were quickly produced. Few were marked. They were made in Staffordshire, Sunderland and Wales. Size: Approx 2.6" in diameter and 2.4" tall. Condition as shown in pictures. Condition is always subjective. I have tried to describe an item and read more
