FREE SHIPPING!!!! This is a beautiful child's rocking horse if you appreciate primitive antiques. It's loaded with character and texture and has a million untold stories in it. It's the sort of piece you can't stop looking at or touching. It has a very smooth burnished feel to it that only comes about from many decades of being used. It has had a series of practical, effective repairs that are all old. A lovely piece. It is incredibly rugged as it is carved from large pieces of solid oak. A friend of ours thinks the legs are chestnut, but I don't know how to tell for certain. At any rate, this horse easily supports me and I weigh a bit under 190 lbs. It shows no sign of strain, and doesn't make a single sound. It has survived the tortures of our two kids (1 boy, and 1 girl) and who knows how many before us. It's the sherman tank of rocking horses! It has what appears to be old flour sacks on the runners. I assume this made it quiet for a nearby sleeping baby, or to prevent the floor from getting damaged. T is also evidence of the original ears- scraps of leather. You can see the tail, too. The tail looks like an actual lock of horse mane; I'm pretty sure it is. It was purchased many years ago at an auction on Maryland's eastern shore. I have no idea w it came from before that. I wish I could offer more provenance, but that's it. read more
