China, Fuzhou (or Foochow)traditional dressed man carrying a palanquin Vintage print semi mat collodium paper , 1900 or earlier Not an reproduction, not a later print! backside unwritten except the location Provenance: This photo postcard comes from the former collection of the famous German architect, photographer and publisher Ernst Boerschmann (1873 - 1949) . 1906 he travelled for 2 years through 1 2 Chinese provinces . He took a lot of photographs. These photographs were the stock for his several books about Chinese architecture and Landscape. Boerschmann bought also several photographs from the Japanese photograp her S. Yamamoto , who had a studio in Beijing and who made a lot of photo graphs from Chinese sites and landscapes at the end of 19th century. The first book was published 192 3.
