His bio is below.China, 1400 - 1600's. China Japan Tea Ceremony Henan Black Ware Chatsubo Tea Leaf Jar Momoyama to Edo Period. Of ovoid shape with four small lugs at the rim and unglazed upper section of the rim with a glazed interior. The glaze of black lightening to iron brown in areas and thick with pockmarking and minor firing cracks. Chips and glaze loss at rim - damaged. Also chips at the foot. The base flat and unglazed and age darkened. Many of these tea jars were actually made in China and sent to Japan as both trade and tribute. Other in this black ware copied in Japan. The origin of this in China is more likely given the density of the glaze and the finish of the foot. It measures approx. 13-5/8" tall by 11-1/2".
