CHINESE BRONZE OCTAGONAL FOOTED BOWL- LATE MING/EARLY QING Search This is a late Ming/early Qing Chinese bronze octagonal footed bowl with flared rim. The panels on each of the eight sides depict roundels alternating with rectrangular double-lined bordered panels. In the roundels are mythical creatures - chilong wrapped around tortoise, kylin, phoenix and in the other panels are peony, prunus and lotus flowers. Underneath are ociean waves. Above the whole border is decorated with bats with larger bats separating each segment. On the base is the remains of an archaic seal mark in a circle. 17th Century. The bowl was possibly used as a censer. It rings like a bell. Height 3"(7.8 cm). Diameter at rim 5.5" (14 cm) . In very good condition for age. No dents. Valued by at £600-£800.
