Old Chinese Calligraphy - Forbidden City - Beijing Manuscript 1911 Rebellion - End of an Empire For all who love old Chinese art and calligraphy this is a chance to put your hands on historical and unique material. This is a catalog put into writing first time after the fall of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), early years of the young Republic (1912-1949). Following the ousting of the Last Emperor PuYi around 1924, the Forbidden Museum was opened in 1925. Many scholars had the chance first time to enter this important and closed to the public compound at the heart of Beijing for nearly 500 years...they began to catalog BY HAND the material seen, first time, in the city... This catalog was later put to print and one of a kind hand-written account was kept aside. The manuscript was written after 1911 and up to 1925 (before 1949), but it is not clear on how early it was written...what is clear from the information inside is that it was written inside the Forbidden City while going over the material...material of the Xin Hai Rebellion : the rebellion that brought down the Chinese Empire. 辛亥革命 All is hand-written on official Forbidden City, very early Museum paper? it has annotations, early and later ones, applied official stamps and markings... one such annotation is the red stamp for WASTE or OBSOLETE: surely was meant to be destroyed after being compiled and cataloged... See sample scans. Bound and complete volume, slight aging and foxing as expected from an old manuscript. ****THIS IS THE LAST CATALOG THAT I WILL LIST, LAST ONE AND LAST CHANCE***** Feel free to ask questions. Enjoy!
