Description : This is a high quality Republic Period Elephant handled vase. Notice that the elephants are done in a wrinkly, 18th Century design. It features finely detailed flora and fauna. The beautifully distinct poppies are laden with fine brush strokes and color shading that show high craftsmanship. The soft purple shading and the dramatic red center highlights of the main poppies are spectacular. What's even more amazing than the poppies are the Irises at the bottom of the vase. They are done with single hair brush strokes, which exemplifies the masterwork of the time. Also, notice the fine leaf and vine work. This is particularly detailed as well, not forgetting the wonderful green pattern for the leaves that has been cherished by many over the decades. The inside lip of the vase has an original production crack. The crack is on the inside, and does not go through to the outside, that obviously happened in the kiln. The bottom of the vase shows a red seal, as well as the original sales sticker on it. The red seal just appears to be an 18th Century mark. The stand has a crack on it that is visible from the side. It also has an original sales sticker on the bottom of it. Size: The vase is 10" high x 8-3/4" wide, elephant to elephant.
