description: On offer is this decorative set of six Chinese porcelain saucers and two matching bowls, hand decorated under glaze in blue on milky white. These objects are elaborately decorated with ornate patterns of flowers, alternating with landscapes, within reserves. The back rims of the little plates are decorated with flower branches. The bowls have a matching flower pattern on their inside base. Underneath their bases all items bear a Kangxi four character mark within concentric circles. Condition: Most items have flaws, but still display very nicely. One saucer is perfect, without damages or repairs. Four saucers each have a faint rim hairline, one with an associated chip. One saucer has a rim repair, w a triangular 60 mm piece was broken out and restuck. Both bowls have distinct rim chipping and both are cracked. Please view the pictures, which give a good impression of the quality and the condition of the objects. This tea ware was made in China in the early 19th century, c. 1800. The cobalt blue color which was used, indicates that they were made in the 18th century taste, the marking suggesting a Kangxi period provenance. Popular patterns like the one applied on this group were produced during many decades, because of the European demand for them, so it is difficult to date them exactly. Oriental porcelain was imported to Holland by the Dutch East Indies Company (VOC), which had special trading privileges to China and Japan. It is known that the Chinese factories reserved their best quality porcelain for export, thus meeting the European taste. The wealthy Dutch merchants were fond of the subtle oriental porcelain and large quantities were shipped to Holland in the 17th and 18th centuries. Although manufactured to be used, most of this Oriental porcelain was displayed in special China cabinets in distinguished houses. This group originates from a Dutch private estate. The scalloped and molded small plates measure 5 1/8 inches (130 mm ) across. The tea bowls stand 54 mm (nearly 2,25 inches) high, measuring 91 mm across. I guarantee age (early 19th century/ c. 1800) and authenticity of these highly decorative collector's items, as described above. Shipping and payment: I will ship worldwide.
