An interesting group of various Chineseexport blue and white decorated porcelain collectibles, 18th century description: This is an attractive group of various antique porcelain objects, hand decorated in blue under glaze on white, originating from China. These delicate items were made for the export market to Europe and are mainly dating to the first half of the 18th century. Most were made during the reign of the emperor KangXi. Chinese porcelain was traded by the Dutch East Indies Company (VOC), which had special commercial privileges to Japan (Decima Island) and China. The wealthy Dutch upper class loved the subtle Chinese porcelain and large quantities were shipped to Holland in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is known that the Chinese factories reserved their best quality porcelain for export, thus pleasing their European customers. Although manufactured to be used, most of this Oriental porcelain was kept in collections and displayed in special China cabinets in European distinguished houses. This group of Chinese blue and white collectibles consists of four saucers and five cups, some matching. The condition of these objects is described accurately below:1. Four matching tea bowls with scalloped rims are painted on the inside with a central pattern of oriental ('Long Eliza') ladies, surrounded by elaborate flower patterns, equally applied on the outside of the bowls. These charming Kangxi period items are unmarked. The bowls stands 1,5 inches (39 mm) high, while the upper side measures 67 mm across. One little tea bowl is in perfect condition, one other is near perfect, with only some needlepoint rim frits. Both others each have a faint and hardly visible hairline, one with an associated rim chip. 2. The matching set of three scalloped saucer dishes has a central decoration of a river landscape, surrounded by shaped reserves with oriental people and fishermen, alternating with flower patterns. The back sides of the saucers are not decorated and unmarked. The saucers measure 4 1/8 inches (103 mm) across. All saucers are in an attractive condition, without severe damages, cracks or repairs, but show the usual insignificant rim frittings/tiny chips. 3.A matching tea bowl and saucer are painted with elaborate flower patterns. They are marked wit a single symbol. The saucer is in a poor condition; cracked and glued. The bowl has a rim hairline. The saucer measures 5 1/4 inches (134 mm) across, while the cup stands 2 inches (50 mm) high). They display very nicely. These interesting objects originate from a Dutch private collection, which I was able to purchase recently.
