A blue and white Chinese export porcelain plate, decorated with a rare flower pattern, Kangxi period, c. 1700 Description: On offer is this early Chinese porcelain plate, hand decorated under glaze in blue on milky white. The plate shows an unusual and highly ornate decoration of a blossoming flowers within concentric rings. The slightly scalloped rim of this plate is molded (the relief follows the painting) and painted with lotus shaped panels enriched with single flower patterns within a continuous leaves garland band. The highly ornate back side is decorated with an elaborate pattern of flowers within lotus shaped reserves, and marked with a symbol within two concentric circles. The plate is in excellent condition. T are no severe damages, glaze crazing, cracks or repairs, and only some minute glaze wear to the rim as usually found on similar items of considerable age, which needs to be mentioned for accuracy. Knocking the plate with fingernails produces a clear sound. Please view the pictures, which give a good impression of both quality and outstanding condition of the object.
