This is a rare and unusual Chinese Export Porcelain Famille Rose Gilded Mandarin Covered Urn, circa 1820. It is beautifully decorated with having six Mandarin style figures attired in colorful robes and costumes in various pursuits. It is ornately enameled and gilded and includes six colorful dragons and smoky clouds. The modeling, painting, and glaze are masterfully done with white background decorated with many colors including iron red, blue, orange, green, purple, famille rose, peach, and blue. The urn has modeled in relief top and handles. The top pinecone finial, the two ring handles, the two reserve borders, and rim edges are gilded. On the urn, the inside and underside bottom is glazed; the top rim and the bottom of the raised foot rim are unglazed. On the lid, the underside bottom is glazed; the bottom of the raised foot rim is unglazed. Dimensions (in inches): 5.7 Tall X 4.9 Wide X 4.5 Deep. Weight is 1 Lbs. 2.0 Oz. The date is circa 1820, early 19th Century. Condition: On the lid, the top rim has had a professional restoration to a chip. Some of the gilding is worn especially on the base rim of the urn. Otherwise, the covered urn is in very good condition, with no chips, cracks, or other defects other than firing flaws and minor wear; no apparent other restorations. Sold as is, as described.
