A decorative pair of octagonal Chinese exportporcelain plates, painted in blue and white, Qianlong period, 18th century Description: On offer is this exquisite pair of large Chinese porcelain plates, hand painted under glaze in blue on milky white. The plates are elaborately decorated and show a central design of an oriental landscape with buildings. The borders of the plates have an ornate pattern of flowers. The rim has eight pointed edges and is trimmed with brown glaze. Both plates have a plain backside decoration and are unmarked. Condition: Both plates each have a faint rim hairline (one affecting the sound of the plate, the other one not affecting it). Both plates have some small rim frittings and chips. These flaws need to be mentioned for accuracy, but do not detract much of the wonderful appearance of these 18th century items, which fully compensates them. Please view the pictures, which give a good impression of the quality and the condition of the objects. These plates were made in China in the18th century. Both pattern and color which were used for the decoration, indicate that they were produced during the Qianlong (Kien Lung, Chien Lung) period, which covers a large part of the 18th century (1736 -1795). From the 16th century onwards many Chinese products were exported to Europe. Oriental porcelain was imported to The Netherlands by the Dutch East Indies Company (V.O.C.), which had commercial privileges to China and Japan. The wealthy Dutch upper class adored the subtle China ware and large quantities were shipped to Holland in the 17th and 18th centuries. Both large plates measure 10 inches (25,5 cm) across. Please note that the display stands are not included in this auction. I guarantee age (18th century) and authenticity of these highly decorative collector's items, originating from a Dutch private collection. Shipping and payment: Costs of shipping will be on account of buyer and will be kept as low as possible. Overseas shipping costs will be $ 36.00 by registered priority mail (recommended). Inland and European mail will be less. Personal or cashiers checks will be charged extra. USA/Asia: I prefer PayPal. Eurozone: direct IBAN/BIC bank transfer. Insurance is optional at 2% of the final value. I always pack very carefully and will ship within 24 hours after receipt of payment. Please view my other auctions for similar objects.
