An attractive pair of Chinese export porcelain plates, decorated in blue and white, Qianlong period, 18th century Description: On offer is this fine pair of Chinese porcelain plates, hand painted under glaze in deep blue on milky white. The plates are elaborately decorated and show a central stylized flower design. The borders of the plates have a continuous ornate pattern of flowers. The rim is cappucine brown trimmed. Both plates have a simple backside decoration and are unmarked. Condition: Both plates are in excellent condition, without damages, cracks or repairs, and produce a clear sound when knocked by finger nails. One plate has two minute rim chips. Please view the pictures, which give a good impression of the quality and the outstanding condition of the objects, which certainly can be called a matching set, although small pattern differences exist. These plates were made in China in the18th century. Both pattern and color which were used for the decoration, indicate that they were produced during the Qianlong (Kien Lung, Chien Lung) period, which covers a large part of the 18th century (1736 -1795). From the 16th century onwards many Chinese products were exported to Europe. Oriental porcelain was imported to The Netherlands by the Dutch East Indies Company (V.O.C.), which had commercial privileges to China and Japan. The wealthy Dutch upper class adored the subtle China ware and large quantities were shipped to Holland in the 17th and 18th centuries. Both plates measure over 9 inches (23 cm) across. Please note that the display stands visible on the pictures are not included in this auction. I guarantee age (18th century) and authenticity of these highly decorative collector's items, originating from a Dutch private collection. Shipping and payment: Costs of shipping will be on account of buyer and will be kept as low as possible. Overseas (outside Europe) shipping costs will be US$ 22.00 by standard mail, or $ 35.00 by registered priority mail (recommended). Inland and European mail will be less. Personal or cashiers checks will be charged extra. USA and Asia: I prefer PayPal. Eurozone and inland: direct IBAN/BIC bank transfer, converted to euros. I always pack very carefully and will ship within 24 hours after receipt of payment. Please view my other auctions for similar objects. I will be happy to combine shipments at lower costs.
