A Chinese Export porcelain teapot, twisted strap handle, with floral (stylized rose) decoration in light orange-brown with traces of gold highlights. Strawberry knop (though I think it resembles a litchi nut). Teapot measure 9-1/2 inches in width from handle to spout, and about 6 inches in height to the top of the knop. The inside of the pot is nice and clean. 7 holes in the spout. The base of the pot is glazed, as well as the inside of the cover. T are only minor structural flaws: a crack across one of the twisted handles, and two small chips on the inside rim of the cover, not seen when the cover is on the teapot. One small fleabite-flake on top rim of the cover. T are also several firing imperfections (tiny pits and/or black marks) typical of these wares. The border design of the cover is different than the border design at the brim, indicating that this is a substitute top or may have been placed t when the pot was exported to North America. The color of the borders is the same, and the sprig-like florals are the same size and color. This is a very handsome teapot and would be a wonderful addition to a collection of period Chinese export porcelain. I am offering this teapot at no reserve; bid with confidence.
