Chinese Export Silver Shanghai Golf Trophy 1930 TUCK CHANG Repair Scrap 107.7g Description MORE PHOTOS BELOW - A Chinese export Solid Silver figural golf trophy, dated for 1930, and fully hallmarked for Tuck Chang (of Broadway, Shanghai). The stem (made up of 3 clubs) has been snapped and would have to be resoldered by a silversmith. The circular base has 3 attached 'golf balls' and 3 crossed 'golf clubs' (a wood, an iron and a putter) which support the bowl. The bowl is engraved 'PUBLIC RECREATION GROUND GOLF LINKS / November 1930 Monthly Trophy / Winner G.C.Lindsay / 84-24-60'. The course is possibly the 9 hole course that was at the Shanghai Recreation Ground in the early part of the 20th c. (only a guess). The base is fully hallmarked with TUCK SHANG and Chinese character mark (who worked from 67 Broadway, Shanghai). Condition : Although the stem has snapped, there is no other damage or dents, bruises, etc. When reattached, the trophy would stand approx 4 3/4" high (12cm). The base diameter is 2 1/4"and the rim diameter is 2 3/8" (5.6cm and 6.2cm). The weight is 107.7g or 3.8 oz.
