This is from a collection that belonged to a former science teacher. Please see the other items I am selling on ebay from this teacher.

This is a Rare Very Large Exquisitely Carved Boxwood Maiden With Lotus Blossom. It is very large at 13 inches and must have belonged to a Royal or Wealthy Family long ago in China.
The condition is amazing. There are no chips, repairs or cracks visible at all that I can see. It appears in perfect condition. I have not seen another like it. Here is a description that was with this:
This is a very fine Chinese boxwood carving of a beautiful maiden in a dramatic pose with lotus blossom. Exceptional fine detail throughout, with lots of open work, compounding the difficulty of carving this piece. This sculpture measures fully thirteen inches tall. There have been no repairs made. The condition is original flawless undamaged. The detail is exquisite. The age is difficult to determine but from the 1700s more or less, possibly older. A piece in condition this excellent is Extremely Rare. Particularly with this amount of detail.
The beautiful pattern is extremely exquisite. The Maiden's Hair is amazingly detailed. the crave through areas are just wonderful. Everything about this carving is one of a kind quality. Imagine the thousands of hours that it must have taken to carve this in such detail using hand tools.
