VintageChinese Hand Carved Stone Monkey Chop/Signature Seal This piece measures approx. 3 1/4" tall and 2" by 1" wide. There is a monkey carved on the top and some etching on the lower sides. The bottom is carved with the signature of the owner. Chop is a signature stamp used to sign documents and to show ownership of artwork and documents. Vintage Chinese Hand Carved Stone Monkey Chop/Signature Seal This piece measures approx. 3 1/4" tall and 2" by 1" wide. There is a monkey carved on the top and some etching on the lower sides. The bottom is carved with the signature of the owner. Chop is a signature stamp used to sign documents and to show ownership of artwork and documents. The writing on it is actually taken from a Chinese poem. These two phrases mean "the hermit is hidden in the foggy mountains". It is commonly used to express one's admiration for someone who is able to lift himself/herself above the mundane world. It has the connotation that one has found spiritual freedom and happiness. The Chinese character in the circle is the character for monkey.
