This is a Rare Chinese Iron Bell From 1782 Made Especially for their Chinese New Year commemoration . There are Four Panels, One Panel Reads 'Qianlong Sishiqi Nian' Meaning year 47th of Qianlong Period (1782). The second line on this panel reads as New Year's Day, indicating that the Bell was made and donated by the Group of People on New Year's Day of 1782. The Group of people's names are listed on the other Three Panels that donated the Bell to the Temple or Monastery. This is truly a Collectors Piece and a One of a Kind Item. It is trule a piece plucked out of time in a far off land. If you have a translater available, each panel is clearly shown for you to translate for yourself. This piece is a bit of History and beautiful decoration in a home that can appreciate Art. You will not be disappointed in owning this piece. You will see a hole in the top of the bell on the one side, there are actually Four Holes adjacent from each other. I did a bit of research and the holes criss-cross, the bell could be carried by Bamboo.. It is not a flaw, but a functional reason for them being there. I have now included a picture of the very top of the Bell for you to see. Being Cast Iron. It was reviewed by Butterfields Auction house and estimated to be worth $2,000 or more so the price you see is far below actual value. This piece measures 13"d x 17"h and weighs approximately 25 lbs. This would have to ship by UPS Ground by dimensional weight. An estimate I did for shipping from Los Angeles to Miami Florida came out to be around $62.00, so figure, depending on where you are, will be around this price to ship. This Bell is Truly one of a kind and great piece for any Oriental Garden or entranceway. You won't be disappointed with all the charm and time it has carried all these years. Please make me an offer. Email me with any questions that you may have.
