This teak model of a Chinese Junk was hand made in a small village by a Chinesecraftsman. I have owned it for 40 years but now will sell. This Chinese Junk is built with over 400 pieces of teak, EACH PIECE of teak is HAND SHAPED, CARVED OR WHITTLED. This is not made as a production, or so called hand assembled. this is the only one., built with the hands of a craftsman. Teak is very hard to work with but it will lt will live for a lifetime. The Chinese say that cutting the tree down doesnâe(tm)t end itâe(tm)s life. It continues to live and the beauty remains forever. Not painted anyw, all natural teak. Sliding ports, opening hatches, 6 bronze cannons, working sails that can be raised and lowered with ropes and sails that can be trimmed with rope and windlasses. The 5 windlasses raise the anchors, trim the sails and raise the sails. The sails have been dyed with possbly a tea or herb solution. The first junks were built in the Song dynasty between. Bamboo is often used for masts because it is so strong you donâe(tm)t need many ropes. Most junks have 2,3, or 4 sails and have been used for carrying goods to market, war ships and treasure ships. Large armadas worldwide were sent out, all junks, for exploration of the worldâe(tm)s oceans This ship has been well cared for and is in PERFECT condition., to sail you around the world. It will look beautiful in any oriental or other setting for home, library or office. Dimensions are: 29âe long, 8 1/2âe wide, 28âe high I can acquire a teak display case for 650. The ship will be well-crated and insured. Shipping cost depending on your location.
