Chinese Mandarin Silk and Gold Square Insignia Military Official's Highest Order Called The " First Order" The Kylin This military official's badge is a solid square used for the back of an outer jacket, and a similar square that was split in two was worn on the front. This is the highest ranking official since it is the mythical Kylin.The wives wore a badge that was a mirror image of this badge. The red sun disc on the upper left meant it was the husband's badge and the upper right meant it was the wife's. This is the man's badge. This mandarin square has gold couching, Peking knots, and satin stitches A(type of stitch not the material, it is silk). Oriental Antiques and Art values this piece at $275.00, unframed.
