Bidding starts low for this item. Up for auction is this beautiful rare vintage Asian (Chinese or Japanese) Plique-a-Jour vase in it's original box (with slight wear) and stand included. It is made from enamel and hundreds of small colorful glass pieces between brass surrounds. It has a beautiful bee or butterfly & flowers motif on both sides and a brass pierced pattern that forms a lace style to accent the designs (See Photos). This piece has the stunning appearance of beautiful stained glass when light hits it. MEASURES: 6" Tall X 2" Wide. CONDITION: EXCELLENT , with slight wear. DEFINITION: Plique a'jour is a type of Cloisonne which resembles stained glass. This art form was developed in the 14th century in the Byzantine Empire. Delicate wires divide the intricate design which is formed with transparent enamel in various colors. Typically metal work is first fitted with a temporary backing before the enamel is applied and fired. After the firing processes are completed, the enamel is gently polished allowing a soft glow when light shines on the object. Plique a'jour is a French term which translates to letting the daylight through. Good Luck Bidding. Paypal Only (trusted and reliable). Check out our other auctions. U.S. winners pay flat rate shipping of $8.50.
