Chinese Rock Crystal Belt Hook/Buckle, Large Size, RARE
Fine, large size, Chinese Belt Hook, or Buckle, of Rock Crystal. This unique 19th century carving utilizes rock quartz crystal, an extremely rare material for a buckle. The quartz is mostly clear with only slight inclusions. It is very beautiful. The dragons are well carved and have a smooth polish. The large horned dragon's head has bulging eyes, a fierce open mouth, and long flowing mane. The smaller chilong dragon has well defined eyes, nose and mouth and a long mane down its back. The side of the buckle is incised with a key fret pattern. Condition: One small edge on the back (near the button) was re-polished. See photo. It is only a slight indention on the edge Length: 5 ¾ inches (14.2 cm), Width: 1 1/8 inches (2.8 cm), Height 1 ½ inches (3.8 cm) .
