V FINE CHINESE SAPPHIRE BLUE WHITE PLATE KANGXI c1700 FABULOUS TONES OF BLUE An exquisite early eighteenth century Chinese blue and white hard paste porcelain plate painted in wonderful tones of sapphire blue, this example dates to the reign of Emperor Kangxi (c1662-1722). The plate centred with a ribbon tied basket filled with flowering plants and fruit painted in exquisite tones of sapphire blue with a bamboo cane handle, the cavetto painted with stylised flowers, plants and meandering foliate garlands to include chrysanthemums and Artemisia. The reverse of the plate painted with stylised flowers and shrubs, the centre with a precious ting or archaic bronze cauldron within double blue concentric circles as pictured. This plate measures 8 7/16 inches in diameter , it is in excellent condition with just one small rim chip (illustrated) and a few tiny/ minute glaze frits, the former of limited significance, the latter of virtually nil.
