This is a Centennial vintage Chippendale style camel back sofa with gracefully arched ball and claw front legs depicting double profiles of eagles deeply carved above each of the front three legs. Both back legs are nicely splayed lending to the amazing aesthetics of the fantastic mahogany frame on this sofa. The presence of the bowed front legs and the craftsmanship present within the decorative carvings leaves no doubt that this piece was executed by a master carver of the era using the finest grade of mahogany. This sofa comes to us from a wonderful Connecticut estate. This was an immaculate non-smoking household. This sofa had its fabric re-done approximately ten years ago. The fabric remains in good condition with some slight wear spots on its arms. We have arm covers for this sofa (one still needs to have its sewing completed) should you decide to leave this fabric on this sofa. This classical beauty has lovely rolled arms and a well proportioned camel back with one single seat cushion. We have replaced all the webbing on this sofa, re-tied all the springs and re-covered its base with a new dust cover. This sofa will now give you many years of worry free service. This sofa is 86âe long, 31âe wide and stands 36âe tall at its back crest. It is 10âe from floor to bottom and 15âe from floor to seat base. This is one of the finest sofas in this class being offered anyw Miner Miracles Antiques is undergoing a total re-organization with our practice being limited to antique office furnishings. A deal to be had! FURNITURE WOODS 101 We get a lot of questions on whether or not the furniture we list is comprised of solid wood or veneered. We would like to take this opportunity to give our customers a brief explanation of the construction of antique furniture. Most specialty cuts of wood i.e., tiger maple, birdâe(tm)s eye maple, tiger oak (a.k.a. quarter sawn) crotched mahogany, Cuban mahogany, burled walnut, flame birch, flame cherry, etc., are applied to furniture via veneers. These choice cuts of woods are prohibitively expensive that they very rarely used these in solid wood form. However, t were exceptions to this. When we are fortunate to encounter one of these exceptions, we try to be clear in identifying the solid wood construction. In most cases, these woods are no longer available at any price. If our listing doesnâe(tm)t state that it is made of solid wood, then the furniture was made from a combination of veneers and solid secondary woods. We list the specialty woods in our listings first, as that is the most prominent feature. Please read descriptions carefully and look at all photos. Ask any questions that you may still have. Requests of additional photos are encouraged, as we are limited to the amount of space allocated for photos. We hope this clarifies for you some of the mystique involved with buying antique and vintage furniture. âeoeBUY IT NOWâe OR âeoeBEST OFFERâe We use eBayâe(tm)s âeoeBuy It Nowâe or âeoeBest Offerâe option as our way of selling merchandise to you in the fairest way possible to all. The âeoeBest Offerâe option allows you to barter for a price without having to stand by your computer to the end, just to have someone âe~snipe itâe(tm) away from you at the last minute. You donâe(tm)t have to wait for 7 days either! Once an offer is made and accepted , thatâe(tm)s it, you have purchased the item at the negotiated price. Just remember though, someone could come in and pay the "Buy it Now" price before any negotiations are completed. So bid early to insure your treasure! Like all other sales on eBay, this is a binding contract, so I canâe(tm)t emphasize enough the importance of asking all...
