Good Luck... and Happy Bidding! David This is a gorgeous antique 19th century French porcelain hand painted urn with gilt bronze mounts. The piece is in the Meissen/Sevres style, hand painted with a classical 18th century courting couple (gentleman with blindfolded woman), beautiful painted landscape vignettes, and heavy gold enamel accents. The urn measures and impressive 15" tall to the top of the removable lid, and 7" across the widest portion. The underside bears the crossed sword and "EC" underglaze blue mark for the Choisy-le-Roy factory of Seine France. This factory was founded in 1786 by M. Clement, and this particular crossed sword mark was used from 1786 until 1886. This urn most likely dates from the mid 19th century. T are no chips, cracks, damages, or restorations to the porcelain or gilt metal mounts. It is in breathtakingly beautiful condition...a wonderful quality piece. It is heavy, weighing 5.6 pounds.
