Blagrove, 1797. 12mo, 332 pages including separate half-title pages for "An Address to Scoffers at Religion" (Watson); "The Authenticity of the Books of the New Testament" (William Paley); & "The Sophist Unmasked in a Series of Letters Addressed to Thomas Paine, Author of a Book, entitled The Age of Reason" (Philobiblius, pseudonym of Moses Hoge). Contemporary full brown sheep with a gilt-lettered spine label. Norona/ West Virginia Imprints 1790 - 1863: 955.

Condition: Binding moderately rubbed & scuffed, gilt lettering partially rubbed away, front hinge cracked (still secure), later (not recent) ffep & terminal blank, scattered foxing & browning, Good or better.

Although preceded by ephemeral material, "Christian Panoply" is the first book published in what is now West Virginia.
