I BELIEVE
Hi Everyone! I promised I was going to try and get some auctions up during the middle of the week.....Well, I was able to keep my promise. LOL I know that all of you are used to me running auctions from Sunday to Sunday. Please note that this auction ends on THURSDAY! Welcome to our SSODS auctions! SSODS stands for the Secret Society of Dirty Sisters; meaning that we all love old, prim, grungy, handmade, and well worn but loved items. Please check our auctions frequently for all manner of primitive, vintage, and antique goods. The quilt has been HANDMADE by the seller. It measures approximately 21 3/4" x 19 3/4". The front has been made from mustard crackle 100% quilt shop cotton. Each piece was then individualy cut by HAND from quilt shop quality fabric and HAND appliqued using a blanket stitch. The flag poles, legs on the sheep and crow, ties on Santa's coat, snowflakes, and all of the detail has been HAND embroidered. Warm and natural batting has been used to give your quilt a nice, soft, antique look and feel. All of my stitching is done on top of the warm and natural so that your stitching will stand out! Your quilt was then heavily HAND quilted using a primitive running stitch. The sashing around the edges of your quilt is done in a sage brushed cotton. For those of you who do not know, brushed cotton feels just like flannel and is soooooo soft! A green and cream homespun has been chosen for the backing of your quilt while a barn red brushed cotton has been chosen for the edging. My edging is double thickness (french seam) and applied by HAND also! I have added metal rings to the back of your quilt to ease in hanging. I take great pride in the quality of my work. I pay attention to detail and I do not take shortcuts! My pieces are entirely HAND quilted, and HAND appliqued. I do not use a machine. Each one of these quality pieces is designed to be a family heirloom, to be passed with pride from generation to generation. I know it takes more time to HAND quilt, but this is what truly makes an heirloom piece. Careful attention to these details has provided me with many satisfied and repeat customers. Please note that the starting bid on my auction in noway reflects the amount of labor in the creation of each piece. Due to the number of questions I have received, I have decided to add this additional information. If your seller is not telling you that your item is HAND quilted and HAND appliqued, it more than likely is not. Read your auctions carefully. The terms quilt applique, stitched with a blanket stitch, individually stitched on, etc. usually mean it was done with a machine unless your seller tells you that it was HAND stitched. If in doubt, send an email to your seller! I recommend that you never wash your beloved quilts etc. in a machine or dry in a dryer. Even though I use quilt shop quality cottons, threads, batting, etc. it is best not to do this. You should hand wash, line dry, or lay flat to dry. You many always press with an iron. I know it is tempting to throw items in the washer when we are sooooooo busy, but this is not a good idea. I suggest professional cleaning on all of my wool items. Now for the boring stuff!
