Free (in the U. S. ) and Speedy Shipping! This wonderful Christmas story is written in Cherokee with the English interpretation on the opposite page of the Cherokee text. It has 18 pages and was published in 1981 by the Indian University Press at Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma. It has a very inclusive 3 page glossary which gives the meaning of many of the Cherokee words used in the writing. English portion of the book was written by Mary Lou Ziegenfuss, who also did the illustrations. Cherokee was written by Durbin Feeling. Book is soft-cover and in perfect condition. Story is a tale of Christmas 'in those days.' Some of the text: "in those days... t were good things to eat, put up months ahead to mellow and ripen and hanker for - mincemeat and fruit cakes chocked full of hours of peeling and slicing and cracking and chopping and grinding and mixing and baking and saving then giving and sharing.... and savoring with cider and eggnog and the smiles of undiluted pleasure brightened the room, dimming the lamps glow. And that was Christmas in those days......" This is a lovely Christmas story - a story from the 'old' times and the 'old' people. I think you will find it a joy to read for many Christmases to come. (I will mail it out the day I receive payment, using priority mail so that you can have it before Christmas.) No shipping read more
