Wax Christmas Figurine / Tree Topper Handmade by Pauline Leidel-Spreen in Western Germany This figure was made with wonderful attention to detail and beautiful materials. She is a figurine from Ms. Spreen's "Blumekind" or Flower Child collection. As she is not an angel, she was not made with any wings. She can be displayed as a free standing figure on her own or with other dolls, alongside Spreen's angel figurines, or with angels from another manufacturer such as Koestel. She would also make a beautiful tree topper. This flower child stands 14 inches tall and is supported by a cone shaped, gold base. Her face and hands are wax. One of the hallmarks of a Spreen figure is that the fingers and thumbs on the figure's hands are individually defined - please see the pictures below. This type of molding technique is very difficult to accomplish, and all of the fingers are intact. Her eyes have a beautiful blue tint, and her cheeks have a flush of pink color. Her dark champagne blonde wig, accented with a bouquet of red and white velvet anemones, is handsewn with an extra fall over the top to give her hairstyle more height - the wig is made of mohair. Her cotton and linen dress is composed of two layers: a cherry red underlayer, and an eyelet patterned white top layer. The top layer allows a hint of the color from underneath to show through, read more
