13" x 36.5", with printed titled Here Fell Custer, numbered lower left 126/950, and signed and dated lower right Eric Von Schmidt '86. Matted and framed, 21.25" x 44", including the poem printed in its entirety on verso: Garry Owen, Regimental Battle Song of the 7th U.S. Cavalry, as well as an article attached to verso in which the artist discusses the original work. Eric Von Schmidt (1931-2007), American painter, musician, and writer, conducted intensive research to produce the original painting. A dramatic rendering of Custer and the men of the 7th U.S. Cavalry in the foreground struggling to defend themselves against the attack of the Native American Lakota Sioux and Northern Cheyenne.Condition: Print not examined out of frame, EXC, slight foxing on upper portion of mat.
