ORIGINAL 101 YR OLD ANTIQUE REAL PHOTO POSTCARD FEATURING: TAFT DAY On May 3, 1910, President Taft returned to his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, for the first time since his inauguration. At his own request, William Howard Taft was treated as an "ordinary" citizen as he renewed acquaintances...... per Indianapolis Star newspaper May 4, 1910. The sender of this postcard told his reader " 1 view of Taft Day "....and it is mailed on June 13, 1910 from Nevada, Ohio. PUBLISHER: Unknown CONDITION: VERY FINE.............postally used (1910). Photo is perfect. The details remain crisp and exciting! On the left side of the photo we can notice a store selling POST CARDS. Just below this sign we see Armed policemen , as I guess Taft wasn't being treated as " ordinary " as he would have wanted. Just behind the blocked off area where Taft is standing we can see some teams of horses pulling carriages....the two carriages and two teams of white horses probably belong to Taft's party! Each carriage has a driver seated very high up and appear to be secret service men looking the crowd over! President Taft and Mrs. Taft are seen standing dead center of the photo....I tried to zero in on him on my scan. Mrs. Taft was also born in Cincinnati, Ohio.
