THE CINEMA 7th August 1935. A very rare British trade magazine, originally distributed to film distributors and cinema managers. It consequently had a low print run and not many copies survive today. Copies of THE CINEMA from the 1930s, which measured a very large 11” by 17”) are very hard to find. To find one with a cover from a classic 1930s horror film is even harder. In good condition; complete, no cuts; 44 very large pages; the staples have gone. Cover: MAD LOVE (aka HANDS OF ORLAC) with a great close-up image of Peter Lorre, a cover reference to Colin Clive and a scary bat (plus brief news article)! Inside: a full-page feature on Greta Garbo; a full-page feature on NO MORE LADIES (Joan Crawford); a full-page feature on THE LAST JOURNEY (Hugh Williams); lots of photos of old cinemas (notably the Southend Astoria and the Odeon Bognor Regis); plus news of all the new films, studio news, long reviews of all the latest films, ads, and more. This magazine became TODAY’S CINEMA and eventually took over from KINE WEEKLY. ____________Although I am based in England, I can accept personal checks in US dollars. PayPal also accepted.
