This pastoral oil on canvas Hudson River Valley landscape painting, circa 1880, features a group of deer drinking against the backdrop of mountains, water and sky. Dimensions: 24 x 30 inches, image size; 27 x 35 inches, including old gold frame. A very soothing painting with some color and size. The Hudson River School was America's first homegrown, cogerent and sizable group of American artists. From the 1820s, it occupied the center of the national art stage until it faded in the 1880s.
