Greetings, we understand the economy is slow and times are tough right now for buyers and sellers. Fresh from an old time Michigan collection, this listing is for a terrific 1890's eastern Santee Sioux beaded and fringed jacket. Its made of brain tanned buffalo hide and has beaded stars and horse heads on it. Its a man's jacket, measuring 32 inches long x 18 inches wide, with lots of fringe cuts and the original buttons still tied on with buckskin lacing. The bottom button is an old rawhide wrap. The jacket is in good condition, with several moth holes, stains and expected wear from age & use. This jacket was truly worn. T are numerous sewn Native repairs to the jacket, indicating someone kept and wore it for many years. The jacket has a slight musty odor that old hide often picks up. Its a great old authentic jacket that would look great displayed in any collection of Plains material. This item came from a large, private estate of authentic American Indian artifacts and would make an excellent addition to your own Native American collection.
