Date Published: 1840 W.H. Lizars, Edinburgh, Great Britain Print size 6 1/2 inches x 4 inches The lithograph has a characteristic patina which is natural for antique paper, but is in good condition considering it is more than 170 years old! ******** Sir William Jardine, (February 1800 - November 1874) was a Scottish naturalist who made natural history available to all levels of Victorian society by writing and publishing forty volumes of The Naturalist's Library (1833-1843). The library was divided into four main categories: Ornithology, Mammalia, Entomology, and Ichthyology, and each volume included a description of each known species plus hand-coloured illustrations.
