FEATURES CONVOY 2CV LONDON to BRIGHTON RUN 2011 DVD The Citroen 2CV was designed as a car for the masses. It combined frugal economy (even late models still return 50 + mpg), with limpet like roadholding, and very effective suspension. Indeed, the original design brief was for the 2CV to be driven on a ploughed field with basket of eggs, without a single egg being broken! Launched in Paris in 1948, 8 million 2CVs and derivatives were built over 42 years until 1990. They make an excellent choice of classic car today. Features a wide spectrum of 2CVs, from an early 1951 2CV A, an AZAM (a luxury 1960s version, with nudgebars, and Ami seats), several 1970s drum brake 2Cvs, through to a very late 1990 Grey/Grey Charleston, one of the very last. Also features basic Special (a retro design with early instrument panel and round headlights), glamorous Charleston in Yellow/Black, Burgundy/Black. Also an early Red/Grey Dolly, plus the Green/White, Red/White, Plums/Custard Dollies, plus a variety of customised 2CVs, in Green/White and Green/Black. There are moving shots of 7 of the 8 Amis that appeared (this must be a record!) to commemorate 50th Anniversary of the Ami, with the Ami 6 (with quirky reverse rake rear screen), Ami saloon and Ami Estate. Features a trio of Amis arriving, including an extremely rare Ami Super in Vert Nepal. The Ami was a very comfortable car, based on the 2CV running gear, and was the first A Series to have the 602cc engine, and thus be capable of 70 mph. The Ami 6 was France's best selling car in the 1960s, selling even more examples than the 2CV! The Ami 8 featured a stylish sloped rear screen, and the Ami Super was the ultimate Q Car, fitted with the flat four, air cooled engine from the Citroen GS. Also includes the derivatives of the 2CV. The Dyane (mini Goddess) was the trendy urban version of the 2CV, with a very practical hatchback, and fold down rear seat. Some 1.5 million were built, and is extremely practical. Also featured is a 1967 Dyane (one of the first). The supple suspension and rugged design made the 2CV an ideal platform for a van, and there are several 2CV Vans, including a 1954 Van, Acadianes (a van based on the Dyane), a Mehari ( a jeep style car), and a Citroen Bijou. Only 200 or so of these 2 door fibreglass saloons were made exclusively in the UK, based on 2CV chassis. 2CV NATIONAL 2011 DVD The annual 2CV GB National Rally for Citroen 2CV and derivatives.
