Beautiful 1/4 plate tintype of a union soldier and , as was told to me buy the seller, a very long time friend and antique dealer from Arkansas, his brother a river boat capt or something. Image has issue, I have no idea what it is but it doesn't look cancerous to me. Image has some bends which cannot be seen except at an angle and they're not bad anyway. Case is all original but it is missing clasp half of Lira style brass clasp. Velvet inside is beautiful. Matt is patriotic, clean and bright. Frame is also clean but a little loose in case. Comes out easily. On the back of the tin type is a 2 cent revenue stamp with cancellation in period ink making this sometime between fall 1864 and fall of 1866. Part of the cancellation is in pencil and is the roman number "10". Both have tinted cheeks. Pleaseask questions before you bid, do not assume anything.
