Civil War 1861 Confederate Privated Will Faris Large Tintype This is a large tintype of Confederate Soldier Will Faris in uniform. As the family wrote on the back of the tintype, he was killed in the Civil War. He was born in 1839 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia and served in Company D, 38th Regiment, Virginia Infantry of the Confederate Army. According to the info listed on he died on May 12, 1862 - he was in EAstern Virginia. His parents were Coleman and Julia Faris in Pittsylvania County, VA and ran a farm and based on tax info in 1860 apparently had slaves working the farm. William Faris appears on the 1861 census of Pittsylvania County at age 11 and also on 1860 census. This tintype is 8.5" high and 6.5" wide - RARE Any questions please ask.
