Civil War era 1862 sword by "HORSTMAN" Well marked blade "HARTFORD CONN - COLLINS & CO 1862 and HORSTMAN PHILA" blade marking This auction is a Civil War officers sword. It is well made and complete. The handle is solid to the blade with great age patina. The blade retains its original factory un-sharpened edge with dark spots which should clean up-no pits. The piece measures 38" from the top of handle to the tip of the blade; Blade only 31-3/4" (No scabbard). Overall it is in excellent condition with the only markings on the blade-see pictures.
