Here's a FANTASTIC CONTENT WAR DATE Civil War Patriotic Soldiers Letter Signed by Pvt. D.J. Prickett of the Hard-Fighting 3rd Ohio Cavalry Regiment! A CIVIL WAR LETTER DATED JUNE 11th 1864 "NEAR MARIETTA, GEORGIA" ! There is little information about D. J. Prickett's Service with the 3rd OH Cavalry, but his cousin James H. Prickett who served in the same company [H] -- and mentioned several times in the letter -- is listed in the Civil War database; James H. Prickett enlisted in the Union Army in 1861 as a Private in 'H' Co. OH 3rd Cavalry. He was held a prisoner of war on Oct 4, 1862 at Bardstown, Kentucky, and subsequently paroled. During that summer, the 3rd Ohio Cavalry participated in the Siege of Corinth, and later fought at the Battle of Chickamauga.
