Ambrotype by Rees of Richmond ! - 9 th plate ambrotype of Lt. Mott M. Lindsey, 19 th Mississippi Infantry. Wounded on July 2, 1862 near Richmond , Lindsey served most of the war as aide-de-camp to Gen. Cadmus Wilcox and surrendered with Lee's Army of Northern Virginia at Appomattox on April 9, 1865 . Identified thanks to period writing on the side of the frame. Rees' signature is clearly visible beneath the right arm of the subject. NOTE: This ambrotype has been broken and is missing a small piece directly above the subject's head. T is a crack approximately 1 ½ inches long on the right side of the ambrotype, and an attempt appears to have been made to repair the crack. It is in the original case (the top half is missing) depicting a colonial scene. .
