CIVIL WAR Original Authentic Ambrotype Union Soldier Showing--- Model 1862 US Smooth Bore Springfield Musket, Sheffield English Dagger, Standard Gray Infantry Coat, possibly a pond type pistol. Gettysburg Pa is just a few short miles from our location --Chambersburg Pa. Many of our senior citizens have some wonderful treasures and this item is one of those. The tooled casing as you can see is very frail. Literally held together by a thread. This can be restored. The outer tooled casing also shows wear--- but that is not the most important aspect. The Ambrotype photo is the treasure and the history. A union soldier from the Civil War. Imagine what he saw. The vast bloodshed perhaps and most possibly at Gettysburg Pa. He carries an 1842 smooth bore US Musket. T is also a pistol and a dagger. Most probable a Springfield. The dagger -- a Sheffield english type as it appears. The pistol -- possibly a pond type as it appears to us. Hand colored cheeks added realism to these early photographs. Imagine being this Civil War union soldier ?
