For auction is a model 1860 cavalry saber dated 1863 and scabbard.Ames was the premier maker of edged weapons in the US both prior to and during the American Civil War.This sword has a nice mid war date.The sword is in good condition. The grip retains its original leather and wire wrap. The guard and pommel have a great deep mustard patina. The pommel is inspector marked ADK.The blade has a gun metal gray patina with some nicks along the blade, but nothing major. The ricasso is marked U.S. / A.D.K. / 1863 ( light stamp on the 3 )on one side and AMES MFG CO / CHICOPEE / MASS on the other.The scabbard has a deep chocolate patina with some pitting especially at the drag end. This scabbard displays very well. See photos.This is a great piece of American history from the War Between the States !!!!Good Luck !!!
