THANK YOU FOR VIEWING THIS AUCTION About me: Living in Florida, especially in the Tampa/St.Petersburg area has given me great opportunities to treasure hunt. I go to estate sales, garage sales, antique malls and auction houses. As with every Sunday count on me being at the flea market by 6:30 am. I have done this for over 20 years now. I have hoarded to w I can not hoard no more. So,I am offering for the first time these collector items on ebay. I hope you enjoy bidding on and looking at the things I have collected over the years. Good Luck and Happy Bidding... Up for Auction is: A Civil War amputation surgical set circa 1865.This fine authentic period Civil War era surgical set came from a prominant Tampa surgeon's collection. After his passing 30+ years ago,his son liquidated his entire estate including a large collection of antique surgical instruments. This amputation set was manufactured by G.Tiemann & Co.manufacturers of surgical instruments 67 Chatham St. N.Y.The fine mahogany case retains its original finish and patination. The interior of the case is lined in purple velvet.T is some wear to the case and velvet consistant with a 150 year old surgical set.The Tiemann label is in perfect condition.G.Tiemann &Co. was located at 67 Chatham St. from 1864-1886.This surgical set dates to around 1865.T are three slots in the interior of the case that have missing items. One of the missing items is the tourniquet, another is a large surgical blade and the empty slot by the amputation saw I'm not sure.If you look closely at my photos t are two small knives that have handles that do not match the original handles on the remaining pieces. I'm assuming these are replacements. The blades have very minor surface rust in a few areas only. This item has not been cleaned in 30+ years. It is exactly as it was found 30+ years ago.The mahogany case measures 16 1/8"l x 4 3/8"w x 3 5/16"h. **Please see my other auctions for more collectables, antiques and other items of interest.
