Up for sale is a 21 inch bayonet with original scabbard. Excellent condition with metal scabbard condition excellent as well. I know nothing about scabbards, I got a couple of them and a sword at an auction 15-20 years ago in North Carolina. Bayonet still has original leather belt attachment with large bold brass well secured US symbol attached. Grommet in the back is solid. Scabbard itself is not broken or bent retain some of its original blueing in my opinion. It does have areas of discoloration in the metal I wouldn't really call it rust, I call it more metal wear/aging than anything else. Small hole at the end of the scabbard looks like actually a drain hole. Bayonet itself looks like it's still contain some of the original bluing with superficial wear to the metal again more of a corrosion to the metal than a rust. Triangular shaped blade in excellent shape with very few if any nicks. I don't believe it was ever sharpened. Only homework I can find on the bayonet looks like the symbol US at S-t but I took a picture of it you decide for yourself . Please look carefully at the photos for this item is nonreturnable. I will assure you it is an original piece and a non-reproduction.
