First of all, I am not a junk dealer, or own a flea market, nor is this an estate sale find. It is authentic, and I fully guarantee it to be so. I have metal detected for 15 years on private land with permission on some of the bloodiest battle grounds of the Civil War. I live between Washington, DC and Richmond, VA. You get the picture. I have also re-enacted as both Union and Confederate at Gettysburg, Cedar Creek, Spotsylvania Court House, Wilderness, New Market, Fredericksburg, etc. I am familiar with reproduction items, which if taken as such, are educational. I have presented the Civil War story in the public school systems, and feel I have some knowledge of the subject. My collection is a result of having my own Great-grandfathers discharge papers. I have spent hours at Civil War shows in Richmond & Fredericksburg, VA, and have been schooled in the art of the con mans junk. Believe me, they are good at what they do. I am preparing to retire, and will now put much of my collection back into circulation. My hope is you will display it and appreciate it as I have. Warning: If the price is too good to be true ... it probably is! Advise: I have seen the value of authentic Civil War items far out pass the stock market in investments. Remember, they are not only a precious item to own, they are an investment. Shipping: Priority Mail for $4.05 flat rate. Insurance is not an option at $1.30 (approx.) per $100 value. CIVIL WAR AUTHENTIC CARTRIDGE BOX PLATE . This is a DUG item. It was dug in Centerville, VA. If you want a piece of Manassas battle, this has to be it. I purchaced it from the man that actually dug it. I personally have detected in that area, and a plate like this is a scarce as hens teeth. T is a lot of mineral in the rocks, and you will dig your eye balls out and come up empty. Notice the rust from the wire in the plate. It is really amazing that it has retained the loops and they are in great shape. Patina is great, and really shows the age. Some ground action to the lead on the back, but it is all t A really nice piece with histroy!!! Measures 3 3/8 X 1 7/8. The plate was not only decorative, but was used to hold the box lid closed. Great idea, especially if you happen to be running, which is what the Yanks did at Manassas, VA. Happy bidding! Watch for more items from MRNSPO each Sat. night!
