CIVIL WAR CAVALRY MILITARY SABER SWORD BLADE & SCABBARD ORIGINAL EMERSON AND SILVER, DATED 1864 - ESTATE ITEM Recently acquired from an old estate some great military items, which I will be listing soon, among them this CIVIL WAR cavalry sword and scabbard. The following is marked on one side of the blade, by the handle: "U.S C.E.W. 1864" The following is marked on the other side of the blade, by the handle: "EMERSON & SILVER TRENTON" right below this in very light letters it has what could be a number "2" or letter "Z" and right next to it the letter "L" Around the pommel (the tip of the handle) has the following markings around it: "JM" and what could be the letter "M" or "W" The scabbard is also marked on the drag (outside tip-end): "J.M" APPROXIMATE MEASUREMENTS: 43" Sword inside the scabbard 41" Sword only 37" Scabbard only 35" Blade only CONDITION: The sword is in excellent condition, it has no nicks, no rust. The handle is in very good condition with some minor wear on the leather, on one side - as you may observe on the pictures. The scabbard has no dents. It does have a couple of very light dings and a couple of areas with light rust. The sword hilt has great patina. I WELCOME ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE, PRIOR TO BIDDING.
