Just as my other posts, this sword was given to me by my father-in-law and I don't know much about it. The only thing I can do is describe it for you. It has what appears to be a brass handle and a wooden grip. As the pictures show t is a crack in the handle and a small one in the grip. The curved blade is 31 1/2 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide. It is a very heavy duty blade, over 1/4" thick at the base. As you can tell from the pics, the blade could be cleaned up unless you want it kept in original condition. It also has a few chips along the edge and near the tip.The markings on the blade are a little difficult to see but from what I can tell the first mark is a "J" and something next to it. Below it, it is clearly marked "J.H." (the J.H. seems to be initials that someone inscribed or stamped and not a manufacturer type stamp. The style of lettering is different from the "J" above it.) Below the initials it is stamped "18 and either a 0, 6 or 8." I'm assuming that was meant to be a date.If anyone comes across my posting and can provide better information, please send me a message with the details and I will add it. I'm hoping someone will know something so I can let people know what they are bidding on. (not to mention I am really curious to find out what era this came from)Please feel free to ask questions.
