Original Civil War receipt for ordnance turned over to Lt. John R. Edie on February 20, 1863 at Aquia Creek, Virginia. Edie was one of nine officers on General Meade's staff at the Battle of Gettysburg. As Chief of Ordnance, Edie had responsibility for all ordnance issued and used at the battle. He was an 1861 graduate of West Point, who served on Meade's staff until December, 1864. He died in Washington in 1874 at the age of 36. Document size about 8" x 10". Free shipping.
