For your consideration Is this large shell nose from an exploded 4.2 inch in diameter 30- pound Parrot shell... Both the CS & US Heavy Artillery used this size ordnance with 8 different patterns of this diameter shell that were 24 to 26 pounds... Potos show where the explosion blew 1/2 of the nose section off leaving this great relic... The fuse channel still shows what's left of the adapter threads, Great Detail... It's 5- inches long,- - 5- 1/2 inches wide following the shells outside curve,- - 2- inches thick,,,, & 4- pounds in weight... The first three photos show it in as found condition... The heavy rust has been removed and then three light coats of clear flat sealer were applied to prevent rusting, & for a better display... Also included is this custom made oak hard wood base finished stained & clear coated with a flat sealer... It's 3- by 3- 1/2 inches,,, & 3/4's of an inch thick...... This fired, exploded, artillery relic is 100% Authentic,Guarenteed from the Civil War recovered near Petersburg Virginia... Many Heavy guns were used in this area by both sides during the war... The Union Artillery had 42 of these heavy guns at Petersburg... Info- on this artillery ordance is found in the Civil War Collector's Price Guide book 11th edition, by the North South Trader...
